I like to drive Urace:
Because it is real crazy
At the beginning it was very cheap
You can get faster not only with Money (like Draster, for every second
you need much Money)
I like to create and build an Unicycle and to make it faster with “little”
Money
And when I'm 70 years old and sitting on the Couch and see Unicycles
on TV, I don't like to say:
“Shit, why did I done this not when I was younger”
In Germany the Unicyclerace (Urace) started in 1997 in Friesland (North
of Germany) by Arndt Weerts, he read in a Bike Magazine a Report from
Daytona with Urace.
He built the Beast “Friesenfighter1” (FF), in 1998 he makes a little private
Party with a little Urace.
In 1999 he goes to the German Bike Week by Bones Mc to do some Show runs,
i read this in the Internet and then I built in 3 Days an Unicycle called
the “RUSSEL” (This is a German Word for long Nose like an Elephant).
I came to the German Bike Week and met Arndt and his Friends, we had real
good Party.
Arndt with his FF1 and new FF2 made 3.50sec. – 4.20sec Runs, but with
my Russel i couldn't drive more than 12 meters on one Wheel, but I made
the best and biggest Crash's.
At the end of 99 Arndt makes the Friesenfighter Party, between the Bike
Week and Arndt’s FF Party, we (LEATHERMANN OTTI and me) built the HESSISCHE
KAMPFSAU.
We started on the FF Party the first run, and we drive an unofficial 2,88
sec. Run.
At this Point the Urace Fever started in Germany, because now everybody
of us want faster then the other.
Arndt with Friends and me with Friends, we makes a lot of Races and Show
runs together.

The Problem in Germany is, it's nowhere allowed to drive with Motobike's
on Grass and make loud Noise with it. Because of this there are not more
crazy People in Germany which drive Unicycle.
The best Place to make Uraces is in Switzerland at the Party from Deadriders
MC, there you have 20 Unicycle Starters by the Championships.
I think in 2006 there could be more than 20 Starters, and the are better
from Event to Event.
I'm not sure but I see it in the Web and on great Events, since we started
in Germany successful with Uraces and published it in many Bike Magazines,
Eurosport, Discoverychannel, DSF (German Sport TV), RTL 2 and Newspapers,
there comes more and more Uracers in Europe.
I hope there comes an revival for Urace in USA.
